February 15, 2011 Board Meeting Agenda Item #23 Title APPROVAL TO AWARD BID #11-0017 FOR FIRE ALARM INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE SERVICE Description Bids to provide 'Fire Alarm Inspection and Maintenance Service' were received from seven vendors on December 16, 2010.  The bid of Commercial Electrical Systems Company was the best low bid meeting the advertised specifications based on a sealed scenario.  The bid of AFA Protective Systems, Inc., was non-responsive to providing a manufacturer's price sheet and the requirement to have a technician trained by two manufacturers.  This bid is for a period of one year with the option to renew for two additional one-year periods.  The funds for these purchases are contained in the capital budget allocated to the Facilities Services Department. Recommendation That the bid of Commercial Electrical Systems Company, to provide 'Fire alarm Inspection and Maintenance Service' in an amount not to exceed $975,000.00, be approved for award and purchase.
